Great Lakes Energy Inc. (GLE) is pleased to announce that construction is well underway on Sarnia Ontario’s largest rooftop solar array. The 306 kW solar system will include Jinko’s 265-watt panels, Cooper B-Line ARISTA Monolithic Solar Mounting System and Sungrow’s SG250 kW inverter.
Great Lakes Energy Inc. has installed over 150 units in Ontario and presently has over 3.3 MW of solar rooftop projects under construction. We are experts in professionally engineered solutions for commercial and residential rooftop solar PV systems that meet the latest requirements of the Ontario Power Authority's Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program. GLE has been one of Ontario’s leaders in solar PV and continues to be one of the most trusted names in the solar industry as an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractor.
The system is expected to produce more than 392,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy annually. The savings to the environment are astronomical.
• This system will be the equivalent to planting 6,931 tree seedlings,
• Or reducing gasoline consumed by 30,303 gallons of gas,
• Or power 33.7 homes per year
• Or replace the emissions of 53 passenger cars.
Henry Mehta, owner of the building at 1173 Michener St. has entered into a long-term rooftop lease with Southwestern Alternative Energy Producers Inc.
Mr. Mehta owns multiple properties in Sarnia and has been truly committed to solar since first applying for a FIT contract back in 2010. One of Mr. Mehta’s many companies includes Integrity Absorbent Products, which has been a long-standing Canadian manufacturer of absorbent products. His customers, including emergency responders, use these products in their daily maintenance programs inside their shops and in the field to contain oil spills on both land and water.
Southwestern Alternative Energy Producers Inc. (SAEP) presently owns 2.3 MW of rooftop leases and continues to look for new opportunities primarily from the FIT 1.5 platform and FIT 2.0 rollout. SAEP focuses primarily on financing and the co-development of renewable energy projects throughout North America. We provide solar and wind developers early-stage development capital and/or equity financing solutions. SAEP is looking to expand its reach through the cultivation of new partnerships and associations.
Jinko Solar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE: JKS) is a leading solar power product manufacturer with production operations in Jiangxi and Zhejiang Provinces in China and OEM manufacturing in Ontario. Jinko Solar has built a vertically integrated solar product value chain with an integrated annual capacity of approximately 1.2 GW each for silicon wafers, solar cells and solar modules. JinkoSolar is ranked to be one of the Top 10 “LEADING GLOBAL MODULE MANUFACTURERS BY 2015” by GTM Research.
Cooper B-Line ARISTA Monolithic Solar Mounting System is designed with limited components, many of which are pre-assembled, resulting in quicker installation. The system easily adapts to both portrait and landscape mounting, and accommodates virtually any type and size of solar PV panels. Overall, the ARISTA system can deliver labor savings and a lower total cost investment.
Great Lakes Energy Inc. would like to thank the efforts of the Ontario Power Authority and the Government of Ontario that made the Feed in Tariff possible. Clearly it is creating jobs, driving the economy and making our planet a happier and healthier place to live!!
